All Aboard The Lazy Train

How summer should be done, according to my youngest

All aboard the lazy train! Kidding, kind of. Summer feels like it should just be a casual couple of months of rest and relaxation, right? Not so much. We typically fill our summers up before they even start. This summer was a pretty relaxed summer, or so we thought. It turns out that even when you don’t have a bunch of plans and trips, you still manage to fill up all the days. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the summer fun {although if someone could turn the heat down just a smidge, I’d be quite grateful}.

This summer has brought about less work for me {with the goal of enjoying summer and ramping up blogging when the kids head back to school} which has been awesome but also a shift. It means more sleeping in, less schedule and less routine. Which again, is awesome and weird. I do best when my kids are in school and we are all on a forced schedule. I almost look forward to that routine to kick back in. I also feel like there are a million things I’d still like to do. Day trips, road trips, festivals, projects to do, recipes to try. The days are a flying by I tell you!

In-between the hustle and bustle, I have found myself being a bit lazy {which isn’t normally something that I excel at cause I am a total busy body}. More lounging, less working out, more eating out, less eating in. It’s just a shift in the summer. Especially when you are on the move and enjoying the outdoors.

Last week, we went to Lake Almanor and I am still on lake time. Minus the lake. Also, I’ve cut back on the chips and cocktails which made me sad but it was necessary if I wanted to continue to fit into my pants. I feel lazy still. We were spoiled with the amazing hospitality of my sister in law. Boating, paddle boarding, jet skiing, tubing. Serious fun to be had in a beautiful location. Have you been to Lake Almanor? It’s gorgeous.

Summer wraps up for us on August 6th and then the kids head back to school so my routine will resume. Back to meal planning and working out and making lists and finishing projects and staying on task. I am almost looking forward to it. Almost.

How do you spend your summer? Low key staycations? Day trips? Big trips?

xo,

Gabby
