$100 Room Makeover Challenge | Week 1 | Master Bedroom

Hi, all! I have signed up for a fun lil $100 room makeover challenge with Lemons, Lavander and Laundry.  Here’s the scoop: I have one month to redo one room for $100 or less. I was a bit torn on what space I wanted to redo but I finally settled on my master bedroom. I have to be honest, it’s not overly outdated. I still feel like it could use a refresh. We have lived here for 13 years and I painted this space 9 years ago. So yeah, a refresh is a great thing, right? I have a million visions of how I want this space to look. Thankfully I have several items within my home that I can repurpose. I still have a few other big items that I would like to add but haven’t quite figured that part out yet. I have a feeling a trip to Habitat for Humanity might be in my future. I have found some cool stuff there in the past at great prices.

Current status:

When we moved in, we bought pine furniture. That has since been repainted white and the armoire moved downstairs to the guest room. The short dresser was a Craigslist find several years ago. It was ugly oak and I painted it white as well. The bedding is pretty new but I have another set that I would like to put back on for fall as the colors pretty much scream autumn {which is my fave, I know that sounds redundant in all of my posts lately but I am a fall girl, hands down}. The lamps are never used. The long side table was inherited from my dad. Sort of. Originally it was mine, then he had it in his home and when he passed away, it came back here but I repainted it {are you sensing a theme? I repaint EVERYTHING}. I actually feel like it fits nicely on that wall so I don’t think I will move it. So here is the current state of our bedroom. Oh, I am a freak about making my bed every single day. So yes, it really does always look like this. Disclaimer? I didn’t get to take these pics until tonight when it was already dark so they aren’t the sharpest but you get the idea.

Goals:

  • Paint the walls. If you look closely, they are starting to look a bit dingy. I am going for brighter but hoping to use something that I already have on hand to save money.
  • Change out the existing bed for a fun headboard.
  • Swap out the curtains to something lighter and brighter.
  • Create new lighting – I just realized I have 3 lamps and I never use any of them. #seriously
  • Paint the feet on the nightstands- they are still raw wood from how ever many years ago when we added the legs for height.
  • Switch the bedding to another set that I already own.
  • Refresh the decor using things I have.
  • We are planning to upgrade the TV {already a plan outside of this challenge}. I’d like to frame the new TV to make it look more like decor than technology.

Follow along and see how this space changes over the next 4 weeks. I am so excited to share the progress and final reveal!

Do you have a space you’d like to redo in your home? Are you on a budget? This is a great way to save money and create a fab new space in your house that you can live in and love.

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do! I really want to frame our TV too, but I don’t know that it is going to happen during this challenge!

  2. I’m excited to see what you do with your room! You have so many good things to work with already. And your “lamp” comments are making me laugh! Can’t wait to follow along with you.

    1. Hi Melissa, Thank you! I am literally all consumed with what I can do with the space. You know, shopping my house, etc. Ha ha!! #obsessedmuch And seriously the lamps are kinda ridiculous. Why 3? I noticed that one doesn’t even have a lightbulb in it!
