Day Trippin’ – Apple Hill
Hey friends and happy fall! Here in Northern California, the leaves are turning and the weather is slowly creeping towards fall. The mornings and evenings are chilly but the daytime temps don’t quite require boots and sweaters – yet. Soon enough it’ll all shift and we will be bundled up and getting cozy. During the months of October and November, one of the most loved destinations around here is Apple Hill. People flock to this collection of apple farms and orchards in Camino, CA. It’s a pretty quick drive for us but we don’t go on the weekends – ever. It’s SO busy on the weekends which makes it a less enjoyable experience – in my opinion. But I have that option since my work is home-based. I have made morning donut runs, midday pie runs, and even afternoon trips just because I can.
Recently I did a fun little afternoon photo shoot with my sweet friend Morgan at Magnolia Rain Photography. First of all, this girl is talented. Second, she is pure heart. If you need some family pics, you should definitely give her a call. Posing by myself is a little uncomfortable for me but I tried to have fun with it. I prefer to have a sidekick BUT I also LOVE having professional photos taken. It makes me feel all grown up 😉
Of course, my letterboard had to get in on the action.
I also grabbed a caramel apple milkshake which my 15-year-old stole from me after I had 5 sips. #notcool And yes, I did change my clothes cause I was pretending to be a model or something 😉
MY APPLE HILL FAVORITES:
High Hill Ranch – this is my go-to spot for pies and the most amazing caramel apple milkshakes. They also have pony rides and a pond to fish in.
The Fudge Factory – this is located at High Hill Ranch and my kids loved getting candy there when they were little.
Abels Acres – this is where we get our caramel apples. My favorite is the apple pie apple. It’s SO good.
Rainbow Orchards – this is where you get made to order H O T donuts.
Delfino Farms – they are known for their walking apple pies.
Mill View Farms – they are known for their apple fritters and they have a great outside play area for the littles.
Are you local to Apple Hill? If not, do you have something similar where you live? Sac Town Magazine did this awesome article on Apple Hill last year. Check it out here. Speaking of, I am off to stock up on all things apple. Cause it’s that season and before we know it I’ll be talking to you guys about all things eggnog.
