Life Is a series of moments

Wow, it’s been so long since I have opened up this blog. In January, I started writing newsletters for my candle business and storefront and I was reminded of how much I love to write! Life has been busy and great and hard and the world is well, a difficult place to exist in. If you know, you know. Sigh. Like most of us, I am living in a sea of emotions. I choose to keep swimming. On some days, I use a lot more explicits to get through the insanity that is living in America.

January was about rest, a quick getaway to Palm Springs and welcoming Bella, a rescue pup, to our family. Bella came from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter. She is a sweetheart and also has an abundance of doggy energy. She is around a year so that puppy energy is going strong. No stuffed animal is safe!

When I first updated the design of my blog, I had different plans. I was ready to launch into interior decorating (still a passion) and social media management. Well, life had other plans. I started a candle business back in 2022 which then morphed into a brick + mortar. I opened Ignite Joy Co, the storefront in August of 2024. I’ve successfully survived 2 holiday seasons, met so many amazing people, grown my customer base and learned a whole lot.

I know that I am forever evolving and that in itself is pretty cool. Lucky me to have the moments that make me who I am and the lessons that help me learn and grow as a person, a wife, a mom, a friend, a business owner – the list goes on and on. I just keep trying to show up as the best version of me.

We have 24 hours in a day. Some of those hours are dedicated to sleep (which I love wholeheartedly) but those hours that we are awake allow for so many other things. We are finding time for ourselves, time to share with others, time to learn, time to love, time to grieve, time to celebrate, time to focus on self-care – the list goes on and on. The days are full of so many things and so many emotions. No two days are the same and we can take what we can from each day + each moment and take the lessons and the memories before we move on to the next series of things.

Have you heard of a glimmer? I love this simple description of what a glimmer is: Glimmers are micro-moments of regulation that foster feelings of well-being. A glimmer could be as simple as seeing a friendly face, hearing a soothing sound, or noticing something in the environment that brings a smile.

  • A few things that I consider glimmers:
  • a purring
  • a wagging tail
  • a hug from anyone I love
  • nature
  • fresh air
  • an iced coffee

I have plans to write more. My ultimate goal is to write a book. I have a few ideas about this book. I even have a draft started. I don’t know when it will happen and I am trying to figure out how to be transparent about my own version of my life without it feeling like it’s the story of those who might be a part of my story. Clear as mud? Ha!

For now, I’ll try and be more present in my blog writings. If you have followed me since The Local Honey days (my OG blog), thanks for sticking around. I appreciate you.
