10 Ways To Quiet Your Mind

Hey friends! So lately my head feels like it’s constantly buzzing with noise. I mean, seriously literally buzzing. My physical body feels the same. I know what creates this ‘noise’. It’s mostly technology and the act of feeling ‘on’ at all times. We constantly have a computer or phone at our fingertips. We are either texting or emailing or checking social media at any given moment. It’s all so accessible that we can check in whenever and wherever we want. Just because it’s so easy. In line at the grocery store? Let me check Facebook. Waiting to get the kids from school? Let me post to Instagram. Idle hands? Let me text someone. It’s nice to have that easy access to friends and family B U T it’s also insane how easy it is and how completely time-consuming it can be as well. Or soul-sucking. Does this sound familiar to you? I know for me, it feels like a problem. I need less ‘noise’. So how can I change that? How can I break away and refresh my mind, body, and soul?

How can you go from feeling like this:

  • Take tech breaks – only allow yourself a certain amount of online time before you walk away from your devices
  • Remove social media apps from your phone. If they aren’t there, you can’t use them
  • Take a walk
  • Do yoga – feet up the wall is one of my favorite poses
  • Meditate – I recently downloaded Insight Timer and 10% Happier
  • Meet a friend for coffee or tea
  • Take some deep breathes
  • Read a book
  • Have a solo dance party
  • Stretch

I also have a new secret weapon {aff. link}. I recently stumbled upon them and on the days where I feel extra maxed out, I take two and they seem to have a calming effect. You should know that I am a complete vitamin addict. I take a big handful every single day. My multi, Omega and of course my migraine remedy which is magnesium with some other goodies thrown in. I have a pill organizer to help keep all of the vitamins ready to take on the daily. I don’t mess with my vitamin routine. Ever. These are my daily ‘must haves’.

Give yourself time to just be.

This article on technology and its effects on society was pretty eye-opening.

Do you have a favorite way to unwind? Do you set limits on the technology in your life?
