$100 Room Makeover Challenge | Week 2 | Master Bedroom
Hey there!
Here we go on week #2 of this super fun and challenging challenge. Hee hee. If you are just seeing this for the first time then let me update you! I have joined a bunch of other awesome bloggers to do a $100 to makeover one room in 4 weeks. As I mentioned last week, I chose my master bedroom. I have picked up a few fun accessories and started the process of repainting the room.
$100 ROOM CHALLENGE – WEEK #2 GOALS
- Paint the room
- Paint baseboards
- Move furniture back
- Start painting nightstands and dresser
I had bought some paint for another space so I am using that which is perfect cause it means that it isn’t part of my budget. Woot! It’s called Hazelnut Cream by Behr. It’s the perfect cream and stands out nicely against the baseboards which will also be getting a little TLC. I think that paint can be an instant game changer in a space. It gives it a fresh look and really can change how everything else in the space feels.
Update: So I have officially finished painting. Phew. That was a lot of work! Especially since I had one brown wall. I was initially a little nervous as the paint didn’t look as creamy as it did in another space that I had painted but once I got it all done and it dried. I was in love. Seriously. Now I want to paint my whole house this color! Baby steps though, right? Isn’t it crazy how projects can just snowball?
Which brings me to another ‘issue’ in this space. Once I started moving my furniture, I felt like my dresser and nightstands had started to look yellow. Ew. No thank you! So it looks like I am adding ‘repaint furniture’ to my makeover. Thankfully, I have the paint for this project on hand. I am inspired by this bedroom furniture. I actually have a sofa table that is already this color in the room so it will be easy to tie in the dresser  + nightstands. I have a feeling that this will be a week #3 reveal. Stay tuned!!
One of my original goals for this room was to use the beautiful wood screen as a headboard but I think that idea might not work. I really love my white sleigh-bed and I wouldn’t want to completely get rid of it but we don’t have a place to store it so it looks like, it will have to stay in my bedroom. The awesome screen might become part of my guest room redo down the road. But seriously, how pretty is this? I love the ornate details and the dark wood. It’s super heavy and cost me $40 at a garage sale. Steal! I saw this similar one at World Market for almost $200!
A few other added details are framing out the TV and adding a gallery wall around that. I was inspired by this makeover at Naptime Decorator. I have a few gallery wall items already on hand and I did pick up some cute lanterns on sale at Hobby Lobby yesterday. You really should check out her whole redo. It’s a super pretty bedroom. Although I have a confession. I don’t do white. I actually love how it looks but give me anything in white fabric and I immediately ruin it. Seriously. It’s a thing. So her beautiful white bedding is beyond gorgeous but it wouldn’t work for me. So many people rock the white though. It’s definitely quite trendy with the farmhouse love that is happening lately {which I also adore}.
Here are a few fun accessories that I will be adding into the space. I am still thinking on some of the details to pull it all together while staying on budget. This cute lanterns will be spray painted a neutral color. Either hammered silver or white. I am not sure what paint I have on hand but with a million cans of spray paint, I will find something that works! 😉
This challenge has already been so much fun! I am feeling so inspired by everyone that is participating. I love reading all of the sweet comments, seeing people cheer each other on and a highlight? Seeing Erin at Lemons, Lavender and Laundry who started this fun challenge discuss the many makeovers that she has done in her own home on Rachael Ray yesterday. How cool is that? Go Erin!! I am so excited to see everyone’s reveals in a few short weeks. Be sure to check out the links below for some serious motivation and inspiration.

What great inspiration! Such a sweet space–and that screen is SO gorgeous!
Thank you! I love the screen too but I think it will have to wait for the next project.
Painting much such a difference! Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
I LOVE that screen. Like love love love love love
Right? I am glad everyone sees what I see! My husband thought I was crazy that I ‘had to buy it’. Ha ha!
Painting is on my to do list for this week!!
OMG Gabby, please pack up that screen and send it to me!!!! LOVE IT!!! I am also a BIG fan of behr paint, it is so thick and fabulous to paint with. Looks like you have lots of good stuff on hand for decor. You may come in at $50 🙂
Well, I love decor so I am sure I’ll spend it all! 😉 Isn’t the screen so awesome? I wish I could store my sleigh bed so that I could use it but I don’t have space … and I don’t want to get rid of it completely cause it’s a nice piece of furniture.
What a steal for only 40 bucks! Can’t wait to see your space come together!!
Thank you Rachael! It’ll be so fun to see it come together. I was shopping my house today and found some cool things to add to the room.
Making over rooms is like a drug! Especially in a cool challenge like this one!
Seriously! It’s spiraling fast. Ha ha!!
That screen! I am in Looooove with it!!
Right? So you get why I ‘had to’ buy it??;)
Isn’t it crazy how changing the color of one thing cascades into having to reevaluate everything around it? And I love that screen. I know you’ll find the perfect spot for it eventually!
Seriously! The spiral effect is dangerous. Ha ha! The screen will make an appearance, somehow someway in my home. I am determined.
Oh my goodness, that screen! I am in love!
I wish I could make it work in this space … I do see another room makeover in my future using it though. It’s just so pretty.
Love those incredible pieces for your space! Your bedroom is going to look amazing!
Thank you! I am so excited to pull it all together.
Love the paint color! And that screen is amazing! Such a great buy!
Thank you Emy!
Love your inspiration! My parents used to have a screen similar to yours and I have always loved it. Looking forward to see the painted furniture!
Thank you Maria! I am getting so excited to see the changes and can’t wait to pull it all back together.
That wooden screen is incredible!!! Even if you can’t use it in the master, it’ll be just as gorgeous in a guest room. Love you idea for updating the furniture, and YAY for painting. That’s always the biggest game-changer, I think.
Hi Erin, Paint is seriously the best to a change space. This has been a fun challenge! Loving all of the creativity and inspiration.
Super fun! Love the screen (for wherever it ends up!) and you are always so good with accessories! Can’t wait for the reveal! 🙂

The bedroom looks amazing! You guys are so handy!! I love the washed look on the bedroom…very soft and pretty!
Gabby! You have such amazing ideas and I can’t wait to see how your furniture turns out! And that screen!!! What a score. Even if it doesn’t work in your master bedroom, you’ll find a great place for it.
