Finding Balance
Adulting is hard. I mean, there is just so much stuff to do. I sometimes feel like my head might explode from all of the tabs open at any given time. Raise your hand if you agree.
But I am not complaining. Nope. Not me. Not today. Really I am a glass 1/2 full kinda girl. OK, I am also a living, breathing person. A person that tends to overload. A person who knows her limits. So this balance thing, what is it and how do I find it? Well, I don’t have all of the solutions. I do know a few things that work for me. I also know that there are some things I need to work on changing. Balance is an ongoing process and it looks different for each of us.
How I decompress:
Walking. Almost daily walks with my dog, Ollie. Sometimes my husband and kids join me but usually it’s just me and Ollie. I feel a little crazy if I don’t get a walk in. My favorite times to walk are at sunrise and sunset. I get to see the sky in all of it’s amazing painted glory during those times.
Yoga. I have been doing yoga on and off for 7 years and I have recently made the switch back from Yin to Vinyasa. Right now, I am aiming for 2 days a week but I know more would do my mind, body, and soul good. Two has become a doable number for me, though. Sometimes I bust out random yoga moods in my family room. Or outside. Or wherever I feel like it. đ
I tend to be a little high strung and adding in these daily physical activities help make me feel a little more centered and well, nice. Who doesn’t want to be around a nice person? Go ahead, raise your hand if you agree
Where do you find balance? Sometimes balance can be found in the form of cake or wine. I get it. No judgment here. I mean, I might have eaten 1/2 a box of Peanut Butter Patties in the past two days. I will not judge you if you don’t judge me.
xo,
