One Room Challenge – Week 4: So Many Details

Hey friends! So here we are in Week #4 of the One Room Challenge. This space has seriously come so far already and I am geeking out over the transformation. We are down to a few things to wrap up this space but we seriously kicked butt this past week on so many things.

Last week, I was priming the cabinets, and this week they got 3 coats of Silverado Sage. Today, they went back to the laundry room. Y E S! Friends, I am so stinking glad that I went with this color. It’s so pretty in the space and I know it’ll compliment the black and white tile so well. I basically had an ongoing assembly line in my garage. It was paint, dry sand, and repeat. I also bought the cutest black knobs and we started switching them out today. I had to special order more as Hobby Lobby ran out so I will be picking them up tomorrow. They were a bit long so we had to shorten them. They are also bigger than what we had before but I am still happy with them. I think the black knobs will compliment the tile as well.

I also chose to repaint the walls. I am much happier with the Swiss Coffee. It is definitely more white which typically isn’t in my wheelhouse of colors for my walls. I always like a bit of variation but I think that this room really needed it since there is so much color and personality in other areas.

We also got the counter installed. I put a coat of Dark Walnut by Minwax and let it dry for 24 hours, then I added 2 coats of satin Polycrylic, also by Minwax. The sink and faucet have been installed and we had the plumber come today and hook everything up. It’s looking  S O   G O O D!

So what’s left?

  • Painting the laundry room door
  • Installing Tile
  • Adding a few industrial hooks for hanging things
  • Build a shelf for above the washer + dryer.
  • Create a kitty corner
  • My favorite part – decorating!

This still sounds like so much but honestly, I think the flooring is the toughest part of this whole thing as we have to move the washer + dryer out of the room.

Truth be told, I really want to buy the washer that matches the dryer. I am just afraid that I’ll never have a matching set again since we had to buy a new dryer recently and the washer is about 7 years old. When you work so hard to make a space feel pretty, you really want it all to match, ya know?

Want to know something? One of my favorite things about making over a space is clearing it out and getting rid of things that you just don’t use. I put things back in their places last night but I also added things to my garage sale pile, moved things like my Mason jars to the kitchen where they are used and discarded cleaners that I never use. It just feels so good to simplify and clean house. Another thing that I  L O V E when I redo a space? Decorating! I am excited to put things back together and make this space feel happy.I’ll be adding in a fun letter board, this awesome laundry organizer, and these industrial wall hooks. Who wouldn’t want a happy space to fold laundry in, right? So stay tuned for the big reveal on May 10th!! I am a bit nervous about the floors getting done since my hubby’s schedule is already weird and he has a business trip in Los Angeles for a few days on top of his already weird schedules. Fingers crossed that it all works out.
