Intentional

Hey friends! Another week is upon us and we are almost done with February. Seriously, we are already two months into the new year. I have seen the daffodils starting to pop up so I know spring is coming. It’s currently raining with no break til who knows when. I don’t know who gets more frustrated by the rain, me or the dog. It’s OK – before we know it, it’ll be 110 degrees outside. Ha!

It’s Wednesday and I’ve got a new word for you. This week I am working on being more intentional. I guess that should be a consistent theme but hey – sometimes you have to set a goal and roll with it, you know? To be intentional is to be done on purpose; deliberate. I’m working harder to stay on track and in my own lane.

stay-in-your-lane

Staying in my lane was a great bit of business advice I received from a friend. This photo was taken last summer in Kaui. I love what it symbolizes.

STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE

What does this look like? First, I am trying to devote at least 40-60 minutes to moving my body. I’m pretty good at walking but that’s where it seems to end. So I am trying to do more workout videos. I’d really rather just naturally be in great shape but it seems I’ve gotta work at it 😉 Second, I am trying to pay more attention to our finances. I just added up what we have spent on groceries, eating out and gas and ugh — It wasn’t pretty! I am guilty of just grabbing food when I am out and that is a very bad habit for the ol’ bank account. Third, I am trying to stay focused on my to-do list and not get completely sidetracked.

SINGLE-TASKING & BATCH WORKING

How are you intentional about the things you have to do in your daily life? What tips to do you have for staying on track? I’ve heard of single-tasking and batch working. I’m definitely trying to apply the batch working to my everyday practice as it truly saves time. What am I talking about? The concept is that you basically stockpile one of your daily to-do’s into a few days and not touch it every other day. Example? I try and create a bunch of Instagram posts ahead of time or I schedule out my Facebook posts ahead of time.

Being intentional actually takes practice and a lot of focus but YOU can do it and so can I. Have a kick butt week my friends.
