Back To School Steals and Deals
Hi friends,
I thought with school starting back up for many of us, it would be a great time to share some back to school steals and deals. I have found some little nuggets of savings at some of my favorite places.
Summer break has officially come to an end. With a high schooler {be still my heart, how did that happen? I mean, I am only 30 still. Ha ha ha!} and a seventh grader, it’s now time to get back on track. Summer, as I have mentioned before, was full of fun and lazy days. We slept in, we didn’t have to be anywhere or do anything. Yet we still filled the days with fun stuff too! We were also off track. Working out? Nope. Meal planning? Not really. Chores? Sort of. Hanging with friends? Absolutely. Making awesome memories? Totally.
So what does the end of summer break mean around here? It means schedules. That really isn’t a bad thing. I am definitely looking forward to getting back on track with my workouts and meal planning {which also helps my budget stay on track}. Does anyone else feel like summer is all kinds of expensive? Then we are hit with back to school shopping, school pictures, teacher lists, school fundraisers, etc. etc. etc. so don’t put away your credit cards just yet. Oh, and don’t worry, there is a small catch up period before Christmas hits. 😉
Back to school shopping usually entails backpacks, lunch boxes, shoes, clothes and of course all the stuff that goes in said backpack. We typically get a list for each class in middle school. I am not quite sure how high school will shake out just yet. We are two days in and the information is starting to trickle in.
Pssst – see the bottom of this post for some extra deals via Groupon 😉
Staples – you can actually order online and pick up in store. They also have 10 and 5o cent deals in store only.
Target – this seems to be everyone’s favorite one stop shop. A few tips: use your Cartwheel for Target app. It helps you save even more on already awesome deals. I love the Red Card option too because it saves you 5% on every purchase! This can either be used as a credit or debit card which is a nice feature. Be on the look out for the $5 gift cards when you purchase multiple items. I also see a lot of BOGO in this week’s ad. Target also has a really cool feature called, Â school list assist. If you type in your school’s zip code, it will pull up a list of supplies needed if the school is signed up to participate. How awesome is that? It seems that it works best for elementary schools though. I also love that you can stock up on lunch supplies and snacks at Target.
Walmart – this is also a favorite go to although we have Target in town so that is where I head for supplies.
Amazon – since becoming a Prime member 2 years ago, I am hooked on the convenience of Amazon. It shows up at your door usually within 24 hours. It is seriously awesome! They have all.of.the.things.
Dollar Stores – {I know these have all kinds of different names, depending on where you live} Yesterday, I stopped in for some storage containers for our trailer {that’s a whole other post my friends} and stumbled upon all kinds of school supplies. Of course, I didn’t know what I needed quite yet so I left without any supplies.

Meanwhile, I just bought my high school freshman an ASB card! What? So now he gets discounts on things like football games and school dances. Gasp. I really can’t believe that he is that old already. The tears have been flowing. I am emotional about every little thing. Time is just flying on by. I miss the days of cute backpacks and perfectly coordinated outfits. Now it’s black backpacks and black Van’s. But hey, they dress themselves and make their own breakfast. #perks
When do you head back to school? Are your backpacks packed and ready to go or are you winging it with what you have?
xo,
Gabby
