$100 Room Makeover Challenge | Week 3 | Guest Room

Hey friends! How are we already in the 3rd week of 2018? Wow! So much has happened around here. I gave my bathroom a mini makeover {I can’t wait to share it with you!} and I am knee deep in my guest room makeover. You guys, the paint color choices for my armoire have been a bit of a mess. I started with Prickly Pear by Valspar – it was too sagey, then I moved on to Florence by Annie Sloan. It was too bold for my neutral taste. I literally painted the ENTIRE THING before realizing that I just could not live with it. It was way more teal then true green and teal is not really in my wheelhouse for home decor. So then I had another green in mind via some Pinterest scrolling BUT that was too bright {I didn’t buy it to figure this out, thank goodness!} so I ended up with Magnolia Green by yep, you guessed it, Chip + Jo.  I am quite pleased with the color now. It is still lighter but also bright and cheery. It definitely reminds me of spring. On-line, the two lighter colors look pretty similar but in person, Magnolia Green is more vibrant. Florence had the place looking a bit more tropical. I mean, I was thinking I’d have to integrate some flamingos. Ha! But this green has me back to a more mellow, botanical theme which was my original plan.

This was the color that I found on Pinterest but again, it’s pretty bold. Still, I had to share this bedroom cause it’s so pretty!

Today, we moved the original bed out of the space and the pretty headboard is going in! I will also be moving my armoire back into the room this evening. Yeah! We actually have 5 weeks in this challenge but this will be wrapping up sooner for me. But I will keep ya’ll in anticipation by stretching it out till the end. You’re welcome 😉

Here is the headboard. It worked out perfectly size wise after we removed one panel. A bed isn’t very pretty without linens uh?

So here is where we are budget-wise:

headboard – I already had this from a previous garage sale purchase

nightstand – a roadside find by my sister

paint – this has been my budget downfall. I already had the brushes, tape, etc.

  • Valspar – $25 {used a Lowes Gift Card}
  • Annie Sloane – $40
  • Magnolia – $20

Obviously what I have spent on paint, has left me only a small amount in my budget. Stay tuned for how I spend it!
